Plants

Hey peeps and welcome back to my amazing blogg (cough) (cough). This week I will be talking about what I have learnt in the topic plants.

1. First of all plants travel!!!I know right who would have thought. Different plants travel differently such as wind, explosions and gliding.

2. For the plants to live they must be pollinated. Different colour plants will be pollinated by different animals such as white is pollinated by Flies and moths.

3. Number tres plants live on a different time schedule which is why plants grow a lot quicker than humans.

4. Plants are quite like you humans as you can see. Suprisingly they also have two genders, female and male.

Term 4 goals post

Hey peeps and welcome back to my amazing blog. This week I am going to be talking about my term 4 goals and what I want to achieve in my last three weeks of being at St Benedict's.

Academic: My academic goal is to get an above in either reading or writing. I'm not sure if I have achieved this goal but I think I have worked pretty hard so I will achieve the goal.

Catholic Character: I want to try and pay more attention in prayers and not get bored. I have been paying good attention in prayers so I've achieved this goal.

Social: My goal is to try to be nicer to people and encourage them.I have still to be nicer to people so I have not achieved this goal.

Physical: This term my goal is to score a fifty in prems or get a five wicket bag. This year I have only been able to play one game of cricket because it always gets cancelled so I probably won't be able to complete his goal.

Cultural: My goal for cultural is to get better at art. I'm pretty bad at art so I think I have improved a bit.

Speeches

Hey peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about my speech, what its about and how I'm going.

First of all my speech topic is Why not to get addicted to Pokemon go. You've probably guessed this but I've tried to make my speech as funny as possible. I have practiced my speech about 5 times so I'm not that well prepared. I also need to make my cue cards because I don't think I will be able to memorize my speech. My speech time is a good time about 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Also not to brag or anything but last year I got to the final for the speech competition so I am quite good at speeches.

Book Week reflection

Hey peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be taking about what happened in book week.

First of all we had a book swap on Wednesday and Thursday. I did not attend the book swap because I had a cold on Wednesday and I thought it wasn't happening on Thurday. I was hoping to cash in a few books so I was a bit upset. The way it worked was you would give in your books to penny and for every book you gave in, you were given a token. Each token entitled you to one book. I also didnt get to see the visiting author because I was at my speech exam.

For book charcter parade I dressed up as Steven Adams from Jammin with Steven Adams. The reason I dressed as him is because I had noone else to go as and after school I had basketball so I would'nt have to change into my gear. The book quiz was boooooooring. I wasnt in the book quiz so I was so bored. We had to sit there for about an hour doing nothing except try to answer the questions in your head. We also had to miss dodgeball. But Evans did well in all the quizzes so it was fine.

Hey peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about awesome books I have read in my  whole life. Yes my 12 years I've been alive.


When I was younger my favourite picture book was, Giraffes Can't Dance because it was really funny and it was a book that was quite unique. At the moment my favourite authors would have to be Margaret Haddix, Rick Riordan and Robert Muchamore. This year my favourite book series would have to be Among the Hidden which has really big suspense and drama. A person I would recommend the series to would be Haveesha Perera.

Production

Hello peeps and welcome back to my blog. Before I get started I just want to say I finally got to 1000 pageviews HOORAY!!!!!!!!Thank you for reading my blog a lot, so I say thank you for that. Anyway this week I am going to be telling you guys about my poduction experience.

So in he production I was quite a big character with 44 lines (sadly some were taken away from me since the teachers decided to delete a scene)but thats all good. I didnt just say a lot of stuff, I also used my bow and arrows to shoot a chicken, King John, The Sheriff and knock The Sheriff on the head with a gold plated bonker.It was really fun. My favourite part of the whole production was my whole part because it was so fun being on stage in front of a lot of people. I think it is one of my favourite experiences in my whole life. Something I could have done differently was to not stuff up twice which was annoying.

A famous quote

Hello peeps and welcome back to my blog. I am sorry I have not been posting over the last two weeks but that is because of the holidays but now I have to get back to posting which I guess is good for you guys but not that fun for me. Anyway this weeks topic is going to be about a famous quote from a famous person.

First of all the quote is "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life" and it is said by Winston Churchill who is a famous prime minister who lead England to victory in world war 2. First of all the quote means that everyone should stand up for themselves and what they believe in is right. Also even if you have enemies its not always a bad thing actually it is normally a good thing because you have stood up for yourself in life. The reason this quote appeals to me is because I probably need to stand up for myself more often and it is a really good quote.

Journey to Mars discussion

Hello peeps and welcome back to my blog surprisingly this is my second post for this week.That is because I have another topic to talk about and this time it is about the journey to Mars.

On wednesday the fourteenth of September at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. A NASA crew will be going to the white house to talk about future plans. so they can get people on Mars by 2030. The discussion will go from 11am-3pm with afterwards being a brief explanation on facebook. They will be discussing about Asteroid redirect missions(ARM) to Mars and it will be on live TV. ARM will demonstrate capabilities for future Mars exploration missions closer to home. They will fly missions with asteroids and operational pressure they will encounter on the way to the Red Planet. It also will test ways

to destroy a small asteroid, if one were identified and predicted to impact Earth in the future.

Space tasks

Hello peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about the space tasks that I have and will do.

First of all over the next 3 weeks we have a space inquiry project we have to do. The project is 10 tasks that the teachers have given us but you can only choose 6 of them to do. For the moment I have done 2 of them. The tasks I have done are finding out the weight that you are on all the planets and the space crossword.My favourite task I have done so far is the crossword. The reason I liked doing this activity is because it is quite fun and it was nice and easy. For my space tasks I will probably do most of them just not the art or the game because it takes too long and I have a decent sized part in the production.

Time management skills

Hey peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about my time management skills.

First of all I think I complete more of my tasks at school than at home which means I am mostly on task at school and never play video games at school. Some of the things that help me to concentrate are when the place I'm working in is silent. Some of the things that make it difficult is when I'm talking with my friends. I need to sit away from my friends more often. To help me to overcome these difficultiesI need to sit away from my friends more often.

Breaking News Breaking News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello guys and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about how your pet goldfish can recognise you.

While your pet fish might hardly take note of you when you are there. The chances are that the fish  no you better than any other person and if you were at a party or something who would be able to recognize who you are. The discovery was a big surprise considering that recognising a humans face is a tough task. That's because we have similar features and they thought that only animals with sophisticated brains could do that. It is not the only time fish were found smart, they can also recognize their predators and non predators.

A riddle

Olympics Judo

Hello guys and welcome back to my blooooooog!!!!!!!!!!!! This week I am going to be talking about an event that I watched at the Olympics. The event is Judo.



I have watched many other sports as well but simply that was the that stood out to me the most. It was a sport I simply had never viewed before. It was an important game I watched because it was for third and 4th playoff. The people that were playing were a Georgian and a Uzbekistani. It was a good tussle but the Uzbekistani came out with the win 1-0. Surprisingly after watching it I still didn't really understand the martial art. I'm pretty sure though that if you knock someone to the ground you get a point. Also the game doesn't go for very long. About 5 or 10 minutes.

Book groups

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about the one and only book groups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The book we are reading is Tangerine and so far it is a really good book. It is about a boy called Paul who plays soccer and his brother plays NFL. But since Erik is a superstar the dad never takes any notice of  Paul. That's about all I can say because I am not very far into the book.

In my book group is Haveesha, William, Liam, Grace, William and I. Our group is doing well but we are definitely not perfect. Our group is fabulous at speaking into deep stuff and knowing what things we should talk about. The issue is that we talk over each other too much and we definitely need to work that out. Maybe we could do a talking pencil or something to help us but I'm not too sure.

Medieval Week

Sup peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about what happened in medieval week.

First of all our lesson was about jobs/shops. The activity we did was dodgeball in our dodgeball everybody had different jobs and roles like the butcher, priest, fishmonger and blacksmith. I thought our lesson was a huge success because everybody said the PowerPoint their lines correctly and I think everybody enjoyed our Medieval Times dodgeball activity. Something that we could do better next time is to make more roles for the activity because we only had 4 and we talked about 8 different jobs. My favourite lesson was the one about food because I really enjoyed decorating and eating a cookie because the cookies tasted really good.

The other fun thing we did for Medieval week was the Minecraft battle. It was not as good as I thought because it was really laggy and you couldn't murder anyone. But is was quite fun finding all the loot in room 11s chests
tee hee.

Kapa Haka

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. This week's I am going to be talking about our new activity, kapa haka.

Every week in the afternoon we go down to the library and do kapa haka. The time we do it for normally varies but normally about half an hour. I am not the best at kapa haka and I struggle to sing and dance at the same time. I don't enjoy it very much but I really enjoy making a pukana. A pukana is where you flash your eyes and stick your tongue out. It makes you look really tough. A thing I could do to improve my kapa haka performances is to practice and try harder at getting it right. I need to do it with pride.

Minecraft building

Hello peeps and welcome back to my blooooog. This week I am going to be talking about how our classrooms Minecraft village has been going.

First of all our class has made a lot of progress because most of our things are almost finished. I am in a group with Ben, Haveesha and Sam. Our group is in charge of all the shops and I got assigned to make the market and the cobbler. The things that are pretty much done are the cottages, the bridge, guildhall, jousting stadium, the church, the shops, the jail, the well and the footpath. Some things that still need to be worked on are the castle and the fields. To be honest I think some of the things are historically accurate but some, not so much. The things that need to be a bit more historically accurate are the castle, the cottages and the market. The things that I really like are the church and the guildhall. The reason for this is because the are historically quite accurate and the architecture is really good. The things our class still need to work on is making it look more historically accurate and our teamwork. Also the two things I need to work on are.............

• The market which I'm still making
• Also I will try and help with the wall around the castle.

Castle building

Sup peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about my castle building experience. But sadly for me it didn't go too well!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Our castle

First of all this castle project was for our tasks and I was in a group with Haveesha and Iraklis. Our project was to make a model of a castle out of papery cardboard. Then we had to decorate it. To do the task you had to use lots of key skills such as measuring, teamwork and art. It was a really fun project but our team did not work very well together and our castle ended up looking quite bad. In our group we made a lot of problems and didn't resolve them. First of all we made our towers midget which looked bad. Then we stuck all our towers together and then coloured them in which made it a lot harder to colour in. To wrap it all up my castle experience was not so good. But I can learn from my mistakes and fix them for the next castle building.

Cross country- Losing to Liam again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello peeps and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about the school cross country.

As per usual I got second in this year's school cross country race, with Liam Maitland coming first. I'm quite happy though because I was really close to beating him, only 5 metres away!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did really enjoy the cross country because I'm quite good at it and I like running. For our year of boys, five people are going to the Northern Zones. Those boys are Liam, me, JL, Fraser and Haveesha. I think they will do really well because they all ran great races today.  I think personally I persevered because I found it really hard to stick with Liam. Loads of other people did as well because nobody from our school trains for cross country so we find it hard. I also think a lot of people showed empathy because in every race people were cheering each other on.

The Jungle book

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog. I'm so sorry I haven't been posting lately but I have been on a two week holiday. Anyway lets get right to it. This week I am going to be talking about a movie called The Jungle book.

The day I went to it was on the Wednesday of the second week when my mum was sick. It was a really good movie so I give it 4 stars. It was about a boy (Mowgli) who has lived  in the jungle his whole life with the wolves. But a very powerful tiger Sheer Khan finds out that he is in the jungle and starts to hunt him. The race is on as Mowgli tries to get to the human village where he will be safe. The reason I like the book so much is because it has great graphics and really cool animals. It also has a good plot which I really liked.

I'm learning

Hey guys and gals. Today I am going to be blogging about some things I have learnt so far this year. It says on the task sheet that they could be academic, physical and social. So I am going to tell you about all three of those things.

Academic:
Academically I have learnt a lot about chemistry and some famous chemists - Marie Curie and Ernest Rutherford. The chemistry I have learnt so far is how to separate sand from salt and how states can change form such as water to ice. I also learnt about Ernest Rutherford and Marie Curie, personally, about how they had great lives and made major breakthroughs.
Physical
This year I have decided to try a new winter sport, rugby. It is a game I have not known much about so I have been learning a lot of new skills, such as how to tackle, the roles of all of the positions and what to do at the ruck. I have only played one game so far so I'm not sure if I like it yet but I think it will be fun.
Social
Socially I have learnt not to boss people around and let other people speak. I am learning that sometimes the quiet people have the best ideas but they're just too afraid to say them. So from now on I am going to try to get the quiet people to have a go.

My Easter

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about what kind things I did on Easter and also some of the fun things I did.


First of all I had a really fun time over the five days with my cousin and my nanny from Australia. We had a fun time playing board games and sports with our whole family. We also went to Waikanae on Easter Sunday for one night and played touch rugby with our family friends, cricket and we had an Easter egg hunt. We also stayed at a nice motel which had a pool, trampoline and a playground. It was a really fun few days. Something I did nice mmmmm.......

In the past five days I did a few things that were nice. The biggest thing I did that was nice was buy a birthday present for my brother. I mean the present was only worth five dollars but it still counts which is great. I also gave a few of my small eggs to my mother and father. Last of all I thought I did a really good job of whenever my parents asked my to do something I would do it.

Camp

Sup everybody and welcome to another amazing post of JTS blog. For a whole week I have been away on camp so today that is what I am going to be reflecting on .







I thought camp was amazing. We got to do tons of fun activities including Tree climbing, low ropes, abseiling, caving, canoeing and bridge jumping. My cabin group was with 8 different people including Haveesha, Iraklis, Dhyanesh, Riley, Mahon, Joshua and William. Our cabin group was really well behaved and got a ton of sleep. My activity group was Haveesha, Dhyanesh, Iraklis, India, Elizabeth, Francesca and Caoimhe. It was a good group but the girls were really bossy.







The things I found challenging at camp was the abseiling because it was hard to feel comfortable with walking down a cliff with your legs at 90 degrees and getting ready for the daily activities was challenging because I am not the most organised person. Everything else was in my comfort zone except the bridge jump was scary. I had lots of proud moments at camp but my proudest moment was when I had finished the 30 metre abseil down the wall. My favourite moment at camp was when I was waving and scoring high fives with all the little kids and realising I was finally going on camp.

Hello everybody and welcome back to my bloooooooooooooooooooooog.This week is the week before camp so today I am going to be talking a bit about what I think is going to happen next week.

First of all I am so bloody excited. Because when you go to camp you get to do stuff like high ropes, kayaking, caving and tons of other cool stuff. The thing I'm not looking forward to is doing all the chores we have to do like doing the dishes, cooking breekie, setting the table and other stuff like that. The groups for camp are pretty good I'm always with Haveesha, Dhayanesh and Iraklis.

The High Ropes

Duolingo

Hola people and welcome back to my blooooooooooooog.This week I am going to be talking about Duolingo and stuff like that !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duolingo is a language talking website you can learn to speak about 10 different languages including Spanish which is the language I am learning on the website. It is really fun and enjoyable and not to brag but since I am 12 percent fluent I think Im doing pretty well.

It is not too difficult but there's if there's one thing I struggle with it would be listening to the sounds of the words. I think it is helping with my Spanish because I can talk simple sentences like por favor, puedo beben agua( please can I drink some water).

Tranquilizate

Tech

Sup everybody and welcome back to my blog. This week I am going to be talking about tech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which for the first two weeks has been awesome.

First of all I'm in cooking which is my favourite one so yay. For the first two sessions Iraklis and I have made two different foods bread and samosas.

The bread was really yummy and we got to have chocolate chips in it.For the samosas Iraklis did the pastry and I did the vegetables. It was quite hard but we got 5 samosas each and they were really  tasty.

For the next few sessions I reckon we'll be doing chicken curry and Fajitas but I'm not to sure. The other activitys I am looking forward to are woodwork and Moviemaking.

School

Sup everybody and welcome back to my blog. Let's just say that the holidays have been awesome for me but now I'm back at school and the first few weeks for me have been action packed, surprising and fun. So today I am going to be talking about how my first few weeks at school has panned out.

So far this term I have enjoyed a few different things such as my first day at tech, organising the cricket game, playing dodgeball and getting in for 4 different responsibilities tech support, librarian, CFL and sports leader. Some of the things I have found challenging are organising the cricket game and completing the Lent poster.

This year my organisation and my time management skills have been great Ive been able to complete all my tasks and organise the cricket game as well. The people who I have got to know better are all the year 7s in my class and a few year 8s especially Iraklis and Riley.

I don't have any ideas yet but I'll keep thinking during the year.
