Galapagos Islands reflection

Galapagos Islands reflection

Hi everybody who reads my blog this week I am going to talk about our Galapagos Islands topic! In the Galapagos Islands topic I have learnt heaps of things such as-
  • The Galapagos Islands is a group of sixteen islands and they are all different sizes and ages.
  • The Galapagos Islands moves 3 cm east every year.
  • The most famous animal on the Galapagos Islands is the Galapagos Tortoise.
  • The first person to discover the Galapagos Islands was Tomas de Berlanga who was from Spain and was born in 1487.
  • There are four currents that flow to the Galapagos Islands they  are the Humboldt current, Panama current, South Equatorial current and the Cromwell current. They all affect the weather on the Islands.
  • Lava Lizards communicate by doing press ups.
  • The Galapagos Penguin is the shortest Penguin in the world being only 49 cm tall.
  • Most of the animals on the Galapagos Island have arrived there from other continents by doing things such as ballooning and flowing on a water current.
  • They have all adapted in different ways for example the Galapagos Penguin grew shorter because it helped it to stay cooler in the warm heat.
  • And much much more
I don't think we need to learn anything else about the Galapagos Islands and have covered enough about the topic. For next terms topic I would like to learn about space or about the Fifa Under 20 World Cup. I have actually really enjoyed learning about the Galapagos Islands and about all the amazing animals that have adapted there.

My Roles and Responsibilities

My Roles and Responsibilities

Hi everybody who reads my blog this week I am going to be talking about the two responsibilities I have they are first aid and house captain. The first one I will tell you about is being a house captain.

The way I  have  helped people this year while being a house captain is by organising the house points and helping people to have fun at the house cricket. You also run the house meetings with the other house captain. The thing I have most enjoyed about being a house captain is  umpiring at the house cricket. I also like reading out how many house points each house gets every week at assembly. The thing that is  most challenging about being a house captain is organising the big events like the house cricket and the mission fair. I really enjoy being a house captain and I don't think there should be any changes to the house captain role.

The second role I have is being a first aid monitor. When your a first aid monitor you go down to the first aid room after the bells gone and you eat your lunch or morning tea. During first aid all you do is talk and occasionally someone gets hurt and comes to the first aid room. Then me and Sam will give her a plaster or whatever they need to feel better. The way I help people during this role is making people feel better when they get sick or hurt. The things I have enjoyed about this role is everything I like talking Sam and I have liked helping people out when they get hurt. The thing I have learnt about this role is that heaps more girls get hurt than boys. I think that their shouldn't be any changes to this role.

This year I have loved having these roles in the school because you know that everything your doing is very sensible and helpful to the school.

ASB financial literacy guy

ASB financial literacy guy

Hi everybody who reads my on blog on Wednesday the ASB guy came and his name was Vane . First of all he did this test to see if we were good with money or not and he found out I was terrible with money. Then he said that the test was fake and that we could all be good with money (I was relieved). The second thing he talked to us about was how to make money around the house by cleaning the car, vacuuming the house and washing the windows and doing stuff like that. Then he said if your parents don't let you earn money by doing jobs around the house  you could ask your neighbours to mow their lawns, walk their dog and water their plants while they're on holiday. The last thing he said you could do to earn money was to do  lemonade stands, bake cookies and other stuff like that. After that he got us do a six minute challenge where you had to come up with some stall or business in 6 minutes which you did in groups . I was with Haveesha and we came up with hover boards that we would make and then sell online(his uncle taught him to make them). Then after that the lesson was almost over except the last thing he talked to us about was about getting a bank account and what PINs are. After that the lesson was finished and Vane said goodbye and then left. I think the lesson was very worthwhile and I learnt a lot of things about money and I think I manage my money quite well by just saving it in my bank account. But I think I should do some more jobs around the house so I can have more money . I think that the biggest key to the lesson was trying to get us to make more money by doing more chores.

Mission fair

Mission fair

On Friday last week during the middle block .We had the mission fair and our group was called The cricket Arena it was with Me ,Haveesha DJ and Lawrence. In our stall we had three cricket activities Get the pro batsman out, Throw the ball at the wickets and Hit boundaries. The mission fair started at 11.15. The price of our stall was $3.00 to do all the activities and if you only wanted to do one it would be $1.50. At the start not many people were coming and then after about 10 or 15 minutes we started to get bored because noone was coming and then a group of boys showed up and my sister. That was when our business got underway and from then on we had heaps of customers. In the activity Get the pro batsmen out me and DJ were the two batsmen and the kid would pay us their money and they could get to bowl 4 bowls at me or  DJ depending on if he was sorting a customer or I was sorting a customer. Another activity was there was three stumps and the person would try and throw a ball at all the stumps they would get three gos at throwing it at them and then you would have to move on to the next activity. The last activity was Hitting the ball past the Boundaries where we would put the ball on a cone and they would try and it it between 3 sets of cones. If they could hit the ball in between the boundaries or get the best batsmen out or hit the ball at the stumps the kids won lots of  lollies. We did the activities for over an hour and raised well over fifty dollars and we were really happy.I thought our stall was really good.
